The first episode of The Simpsons show was made on December 17,1989 and this series has broadcasted 596 episodes. On April 19,1987 the shorts of the show became part of The Tracey Ullman Show and after a three-season run,the sketch was developed and into a half-hour prime time show and became a hit for Fox. It also became Fox's first series to land in the Top 30 ratings in a season. The shorts were series of 48 one-minute that ran on television programs. Matt Groening wrote and designed many of the shorts and the first short that aired was on April 19,1987 and it was called "Good night". Also Matt Groening made a character of himself and put it in the show and his character showed up in The Simpsons in the episode "The 138th Episode Spectacular".

The people who play the characters are Dan Castellaneta (Homer), Julie Kavner (Marge), Nancy Cartwright (Bart), and Yeardley Smith (Lisa). And there has been made one movie along with the shows called "The Simpsons Movie".
